Over the years I have recommended many different websites to FFP readers.  Some have gone on to create B&M locations others have expanded their websites while others have shut down.  With so many to choose from I thought it would be great to list a few that you may have heard of some you may not have and others you need to revisit.  Happy shopping!

  1. SVOBODA – premium denim and plus size premium denim
  2. Figuresque – quality plus size fashions catering exclusively to curvy divas with styles from sexy to classic
  3. Junonia – serves vibrant, plus size women who love to walk, run, swim, hike, bike, golf, ski and travel
  4. Penningtons (Canada)- a wide selection of uniforms career and casual wear including lingerie, sleepwear and outdoor accessories
  5. Hottopic.com-ideal for plus size teens.
  6. Marisota(UK) – clothes with the fuller figure in mind
  7. Jacamo(UK) – Fashionable clothes for big and tall men
  8. JD Williams (UK) – Leader in mail order clothing
  9. Simply Be (UK) – Lingerie to fit all of your needs
  10. Simply Yours(UK) – Lingerie for larger sizes

The great part about all of these sites is that they may not be new but they may be new to you which means you will have more options when it comes to shopping and with the addition of the UK websites it gives you an idea of the magnitude of full figured fashions around the world even though at times the US seems to be in denial.  As before happy shopping and if you know of any websites not mentioned before feel free to post it in the comment section.

Let me put in a plug for Penningtons. When I first moved to the Pacific Northwest, I was staying with my then boyfriend (now husband) up in North Vancouver while I looked for a job and a place to live just south of the border in Bellingham. I had been working in a casual corporate environment for 5 years, so really had no career clothes for interviewing. As luck would have it, there was a Penningtons just about a mile from where I was staying. I was absolutely delighted. One of the hardest things for us plus size folks is finding reasonably priced career wear. I found a couple of suits and some separates on sale and put a big dent in starting a new wardrobe. I still go up to Canada to visit Penningtons whenever I need career type clothes. There’s no store in 2 counties where I live that matches what they offer. All I have here is a Lane Bryant and an Avenue, and most of their clothes are too young and/or casual for what I’m looking for (I’m a 48 year old executive assistant).

Penningtons is fabulous for career clothing.

I love SVOBODA denim… my two favorite skirts are from them, they fit like a glove and quality is super. Also loving Figuresque’s offering… stylish and affordable… perfect combination if you ask me!

You mention about the US being in denial. I also find the UK companies want Canadian business more than many of the US companies. They usually offer better shipping costs. I was at a US website the other day and they wanted $45 for shipping to Canada. We’re right next door. I ordered 4 dresses from the UK last night and was charged under 4 pounds with is about $7 converted. It’s coming from overseas!! I’m also still pretty pissed that LB stopped shipping to Canada last fall (blaming site changes) and still hasn’t started shipping again. There’s totally something fishy there.

$45 bucks from the us to Canada that is crazy. It seems that the UK sites have something going on that we in the West need to take notice of before we get left in the dust.
