Today I am moving forward with the 10 Questions Series in which I give you the reader a look at some of the individuals in the plus community.  Today we get to know plus model LaTonya Mann who I got a chance to see on the runway this past Summer and knew she was destined for greatness.

Where are you from?

I am LaTonya ‘BUBBLES THE MODEL” Mann. Born in Memphis, TN. I a happy go lucky southern belIe. I currently reside in every major city that has a STAGE and 4 inch heels I can wear so I can “POP” down the runway!!

Is modeling a hobby or something you want to do full time?

I started modeling over 10 years ago. In the beginning it was for fun and socializing. Now, I am full-forced into making it a career. Currently, I am the Ceo of Marketing and Business Relations with fellow model/Founder Nikki “Hourglass” Moore of TRULY CURVY GIRLS .

What inspired you to get into modeling?

One day I walked past a mirror and said, “Wow, I’m curvy, cute, and confident let’s show the world!”  I love walking in heels thanks to my nicely toned calf muscles.  I love fashion, so why not combine both loves and rip the runway while doing it!

In your opinion do you feel you have been treated fairly as a model?

Being a voluptuous size 20/22 I represent what a real size women is. I do feel a disappoint when I see size 10, 12, or even 14 marketing clothing that is geared to a women that is a 18-22 range. I would love to go into a store and see a picture of a model that is my size with the outfit I would possibly buy so I can get the right vision on how it hugs my hips and waist with out even trying it on. Vision is your best shopper.

Do you have a favorite model?

Actually! I admire anyone who shows confidence though the camera and on the stage!

Do you have a dream modeling job?

YES! Freelancer to all Plus Size Events , Store brands, and advertisements! … I want to GO AND TRAVEL EVERYWHERE!!

What did modeling during Full Figured Fashion Week™ mean to you?

It was a awesome opportunity. Being on that stage showing my skills and having fun.  I was super stoked!

What was your favorite part?

When I came out with my Full-Figured and Fabulous designer T-Shirt.  I would like to personally thank Tamika Albritton of TWAZ (Thick Women AlwayZ) . She is an awesome designer with a year 2050 style. She is a force to be reckoned with!

Which would you prefer to be classified as a model or a plus model?

Neither I am a TRULY CURVY GIRL.  I am SASSY size 20/22 with full legs and hips and a little jiggle in the middle. I embrace my curves and I represent the REAL WOMEN OF SIZE that is fuller.

What do you think the state of modeling is for ladies above a size 12?

Comparison to the lacking of mainstream plus models 10-15 years ago. I think there is a huge movement that is now embracing us. We must keep fighting and pushing for events such as Full Figured Fashion Week™, The Plus Academy™, The Fuller WOMAN EXPO™, The Curvy Revolution, Big Boned Women Castings and Productions, Project Curve Appeal, and Voluptuous Woman Company just to name a few. Theses organizations help by inspiring confident women showing that they can get the support and insight on the ins and out of the industry needed to be successful.  Also, online magazines such as Plus Model Magazine, SKORCH, and SonsiLiving have paved the way by exposing beautiful up and coming models  whom would not normally be recognized.  Also, Plus friendly stores such as Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart, Faith21 combined with local stores such as Curvaceous Boutique produce styles that a full figured women will feel and look sexy in.  Finally, informative bloggers such as Full Figure Plus, Bella Styles Blog, and The Curvy Fashionista deliver the  inside scoop to the plus community on a daily basis.  This helps promote the positive sisterhood that has become the foundation of the plus model industry.

What advice do you have for ladies looking to get into the industry?

Say NO TO FEAR.. IT’S YOUR WORST ENEMY!  Work with what you have and improve with what you got.  Stay positive.  Practice does make prefect.  Networking will get you far!
