10 Reasons Oprah Finally Quit Dieting

oprahWhen the Oprah Winfrey show came on the air I was in high school and wondered how long the show would last.  Fast forward 20+ years were most of us have seen all of the weight loss struggles she has gone through, all of the books that she has sold with personal trainer Bob Greene, and tried most of the diets Oprah has reccommended.  A few days ago an outraged Oprah was at it again talking about her weight and this time she finally got it and here is why.

  1. Diets don’t work.  D’uh.
  2. Diets do work but not if they are not followed to the letter.
  3. Being healthy does not have a specific size.
  4. Medications can affect size and wreck dieting efforts.
  5. Promoting good health is better for her personally.
  6. Promoting good health is good for show ratings.
  7. She is tired.
  8. Not managing a diet plan is one less task on her plate.
  9. She can finally handle the food addition problem.
  10. Realizing that weight issues have little to do with weight.

One of the things that I learned on my journey into fitness is that weight loss has to do with change of lifestyle along with change of diet.  I think that Oprah is finally realizing what she has known for years, that she has to change her life before she decides to shed a pound or it will all come back.
