10 Steps to a Perfect Wedding Gown

Reader QuestionsFinding a dress is something that causes many brides-to-be, including plus size brides many sleepless nights. This weeks question is:  “How to find the perfect dress for a plus size figure?”  Last weekend I attended two weddings. The one thing that I noticed about both brides was the fact that there dresses where flawless looking. The second wedding more so than the first. At a size 18/20 she had on a form fitting floor length gown that was covered in beading and sequins. All of her hips and curves looked fantastic. At that moment she was not a plus size bride she was just a bride.

  1. Set a realistic budget for your dress.  Include last minute alterations in your budget.
  2. Find the perfect dress.
  3. Try to have your choice finalized within 90 days of your wedding day.
  4. Pick your dress first, then decides on the shoes to go with it.
  5. Do not go on a starvation diet to fit into it if it is too small.
  6. Have the dress altered to your unique figure.
  7. Hire a seamstress to make your wedding dress.
  8. Allot enough time to have the dress made.
  9. Make sure the material is breathable.
  10. Invest in a good quality strapless bra, (Only if you decide to go sleeveless)
