10 Ways to Save Money
If you are like me then saving money on everyday items as well as some onetime expenses is something that you like to do. Though I normally talk about clothing and shopping on Full Figure Plus there are everyday things that everyone regardless of size or budget can take advantage of and save a few dollars at the same time.
- Dinner - If your city has a culinary school then it is possible that you can receive up to a 5-star meal for the price that you would normally pay at a chain restaurant. It’s a win win situation. Students get to practice their craft and you get to try different dishes for a fraction of the cost.
- Shopping - If you are still a brick and mortar shopper and are hooked on credit cards ask the store clerks if you can receive a discount if you pay cash. Depending on the store you may be able to receive up to a 10% discount off your purchase.
- Hair Care - If you are not looking to have the latest style and just want simple maintenance of your hair then you can get a professional style done for pennies at your local barber or beauty school. Just like the culinary school barbers and beauticians need to practice their craft.
- Movie Rental - Most movie rental stores sell movies after they have been rented for a set period of time. For instance in the case of Netflix they offer used movies for $5.
- Furniture - The rise in businesses housing employees for short periods of time has created a market in the area of corporate furniture rental. The rental companies take furniture out of circulation usually after six months and sell the items. I was able to get a bedroom set that would have cost over $2000 new for $600 this way.
- Clothing - Though consignment shops are at the top of the list to get designer clothing cheap another option is seasonal sales shows. You can hear about them on the radio. They usually run for 2-3 days and offer many brand name clothing items at a discount.
- Airports - I know this one sounds strange but every year thousands of items go unclaimed at airports worldwide. Many of these items are on sale at the airports others go to regional facilities that are open to the public.
- Auctions -Federal and state auctions are conducted daily around the country for surplus items that different agencies are getting rid of. Though most of the items are not in the best conditions there are still gems to be found.
- Surveys - There are many companies that will send you products to test to get customer response. At the end of the trial period you get to keep the item and you provide the company with valuable information. In some cases survey taking involves compensation for your time.
- Health care - Clinical trials are extremely important for the health care and pharmaceutical industries. These trials are conducting in hospitals everywhere. Consult with your doctor to see if there are any trials that you qualify for. Compensation free medication or both are offered in many cases.
Everything listed here I have taken advantage of at one time or another. With any type information do your research before you try to get involved with any type service of the nature described above. With the economic troubles in the United States today the consumer needs every edge possible to save money. Try a few of these out and let me know if they work for you. If there are any items that you have to add feel free to comment on it.
