The first half of the year had a lot of things going on. By the summer is when I started talking with Ozlem from IGIGI more. The growing relationship that Ozlem is forging with bloggers as well as the blog on IGIGI’s main site picks up the ball that was dropped by Just my Style earlier. This unique strategy makes IGIGI the only retailer that is actually reaching out to there customers through blogging.
July
Lane Bryant continues there push into other areas with there Lane Bryant Outlet stores, there is also talk of moving there Cacique lingerie line into stand alone stores. By year end 50 Cacique stores where opened.
Mo’Nique involves fans in the Mo’Nique’s F.A.T. Chance Users Choice Awards. Keka Riley was the winner of the prize money. Tanisha Malone took home the title of Miss F.A.T. 2006. All of the ladies involved have gone on to do great things in the world of modeling as well. Alicia Mitchell is one of the models for the 2007 Volux Full Figured Wall Calendar.
A low point during this time was when Mo’Nique was kicked of a United Airlines flight over a security misunderstanding.
The month ended with 10 reasons to shop online as a plus size individual.
August
Besides being the month that I turned forty there was an interesting article about how plus size black women are portrayed in the media.
Fall previews come out and we learn what are going to be the hot items for Fall and winter. Casual Male changes its name to Casual Male XL. Bombshell Magazine announces that in 2007 it is going to print and launches a model search.
It was education time with talk about the 10 different types of bras as well as 5 ways to look good in your underwear.
Also during this time I got involved with a blog carnival for the first time. It didn’t go as well as I planned but I enjoyed it any way.
September
We learned that Frontier Airlines has a fat profiling policy. Also a few names in plus sizes fashion that you should know about. There was some talk of a Fat Tax, which still amazes me the things that people come up with.
My blog carnival submission, Life as a Fat Man went over well. During Fashion Week in Milan, Italy models that where too skinny where banned from runways.
If you where looking for boots to fit wider calves I came across a few bits of information to help out. the month ended with tips on finding Halloween costumes for plus size figures.
October
The month begins with Breast Cancer Awareness. Events are held all over the country and pink is everywhere.
Velvet D’Amour stuns the world while walking the catwalk in Paris. Gigi’s Closet introduces us to Ms. Online Plus in a way to help the company understnd there customer base.
Love your Body Day goes on as a result of the hard work from Chenese Lewis and all the others involved. I bought my bracelet to do my part to help out.
I was introduced to the Fatty fat Pig contest, and despite fans of the show defending it I didn’t find anything about it positive.
November
Monif C. Plus sizes continues there growth and starts looking for models for there upcoming events.
Lane Bryant introduces there magalog and I discover Cherished Woman an new plus size merchant on the scene.
This month also marked me being a part of the blog world for two years. I plan to be here for a very long time too.
Tyra Banks shows support with her thick and sexy top model I also learned during this time that there is a connection between Tyra Banks and the Bombshell Model search.
December
The month started off with me giving recognition for World AIDS Day then there was the discovery of another plus size fashion merchant Fashion Overdose.
I found the video for the song Skinny and though some people thought it was a bad thing I loved it.
Other projects I came across and support are the 2007 Volux Full Figured Wall calendar and the artwork from Ruben Esq
The absolute highlight of the month was my involvement in the Problogger Group writing Project. The blogs that I found where great and I loved the attention I gained from it.
A few days ago I recognized the fact that there are still a lot of people that are new to blogging so I did my introduction to blogging in two parts
Well thats it for the highs and lows for the year. In the final post of this series I will talk about specific merchants that shined the most and ones that I expect more things from in 2007.
