2007 Men’s Fall Fashions

This year I am going to do something different.  Normally I concentrate on women’s fashion when it comes to predictions for the upcoming season.  With men’s fashion becoming more popular these days it’s time to give the men some attention for Fall/Winter 2007.

Expect to see a fitted look without a jacket and more sweaters, particularly knit.  The overall look for men is going to go back to a traditional more gentleman like look that will include v-necks and more turtlenecks.

The colors will include purple in a royal fashion with eggplant added for a more polished look for pullovers.  Other colors to lookout for will be the typical earth tones that are associated with men’s fashion as well as deep rich blues.

To enhance the look of sweaters and turtlenecks go with a chunky knit scarf to complete your look.  Two-tone wool scarves will give you a sophisticated look to compliment your entire wardrobe.

There really is not much to mention in the area of shoes.  For dressy occasions a brown leather classic oxford is still the standard.  For more casual situations a suede lace-up shoe is your best bet.

When it is time to go casual the staple of the male wardrobe is still a pair of jeans.  Leave that baggy jeans for the kids and go for straight legs instead of bootcut.  Dark washes are making a slow comeback after years of faded and acid washes.

For the big and tall man mixing and matching is the key to looking your best when shopping.  Coordinate pieces to fit your body type instead of trying to buy complete outfits.  Experimenting with different pieces is likely to give you an entirely different look without having to replace your entire wardrobe.

A full selection of men’s stores such as Casual Male XL and  Haband can be found in on the Full Figure Shopping page.

Perhaps you could settle a discussion with my boyfriend. He’s a big guy – 6’3″ and 340 pounds, and he’s determined that he wants to wear vests. I for one am not crazy about this, I don’t think it works well on men with a bit of a gut. What are your thoughts on this – is there a way for a big guy to do this right, especially one inclined towards what I lovingly call Geek Chic?

  2. There are three areas that I would consider when considering the fit of a vest for someone the size of your boyfriend:

    1. The fit in the front is not so snug that there is a strain on the buttons and button holes.

    2. There is not a lot of excess fabric around the armholes.

    3. There should not be a lot of excess fabric in the back.

For a man that size it would be best to be professionally measured and have vests custom fitted to his shape.
