My name is Glen L Johnson the guy behind Full Figure Plus. You can read a little more about my blogging tales on the About Full Figure Plus page. On this page I’m going to give you a peek into my world.
I’m a 42 years old living in Little Rock, Arkansas. I am married to ‘TJ’ and live in the house that I was raised in. I have two boys and a girl that keep me busy all the time but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am a full time blogger and travel agent making a decent living from a medium that I didn’t know existed before October of 2004.
I first discovered blogging when a friend told me about it. My first blog was purely a place to vent. After reading an article in Business 2.0 back in 2004 I knew then that combining blogging with a target audience of plus size men and women would be a good thing. Since that day I have not looked back and couldn’t be more happy.
You may be wondering as a man why would I associate myself with something that is normally viewed as an area dominated by women? It’s simple. I am a plus size man married to a plus size woman and from a plus size family, so I am very much qualified to write about things related to the plus size fashion industry. On the same day that I started Full Figure Plus I stared a plus size lingerie modeling blog Curvy Silhouettes. Both blogs came from the concern that my wife had about finding clothing and issues of image. I had been looking for her and cataloging links for years so the natural combination of blogging with those links was how I got my start.
It took a while for my blog activity to take off, but the one thing that I can say is that from the success of my blogs I was able to start my company Full Figure Network, Inc. with no money and a year later it is generating a comfortable income for me and my family.
As a result of my blogging about plus size fashion on Full Figure Plus it has opened up a few opportunities for me:
Shopping consultant - There are a few readers that contact me wanting to know the best place to find different special occasion items. I am more than willing to help those in need. Feel free to email or IM me if you need assistance.
Reporter - There are many plus size events going on that I have attended over the years that I have had the opportunity to meet many fantastic people.
Travel Agent - I spend the majority of my day either blogging or working another business venture that was funded by my blogging, travel services. I love to travel so becoming an agent was a no brainier for me. My goal is to one day go on a train tour through the Orient. The great thing about it is that I will be able to blog while traveling.
