Bombshell Magazine is looking for America’s next plus size model

IGIGI, Bombshell Magazine and Brand Talent Agency team up to find America’s next plus-size model.

IGIGI is proud to announce our partnership with Bombshell™ Magazine and Brand Model and Talent Agency for the Bombshell Model Search 2007 scheduled to run August 15, 06 through October 21, 2006 November 30, 2006. Bombshell Magazine, www.bombshellmagazine.com, is an online fashion and lifestyle magazine that caters to plus-size women 14 and up. Founded in 2003 by Candace Werginz and Heather Benjamin, the magazine has successfully positioned itself within the plus-size fashion industry as a leader and advocate for plus-size women. The model search marks the official announcement of Bombshell in print scheduled to launch in May/June 2007.

I got this as a heads up from Ozlem, who is a marketing assistant for IGIGI. Thanks again! This looks like its going to be another exciting plus size modeling competition, except this time its going to print instead of being televised. With them teaming up with Bombshell magazine this in my opinion will help bring plus size modeling to another level. Here are some quick facts about Bombshell:

1. Bombshell readers are plus-size women whose dress size starts at 14 and who appreciate great style and quality products.
2. With 64% of all women in the United States wearing a size 14 and up, our “niche” audience is one of the largest, if not the largest, in the fashion industry.
3. Bombshell Magazine currently has over 30,000 readers whose ages range from 15 to 40.
4. The first issue is scheduled for May/June 2007 and will hit newsstands in late April of 2007.
5. The magazine will be offered bi-monthly through newsstands and subscriptions.

Everything gets started August 15, 2006 and will run through October 31, 2006 November 30, 2006. The top 100 finalists will be announced at www.bombshellmodelsearch.com starting December 1st and go on until December 15th, where voting will take place for the public to select “The Reader’s Choice” winner. These dates have been changed to December 1st through December 10th with the finalist selected and posted on December 15th. The “Reader’s Choice” will join the four finalists selected by a panel of judges. The judges will select the winner from these five finalists, and the results will be announced in spring of 2007 at bombshell model search. The model search contest will serve to leverage the popularity of www.bombshell.com, and announce the first print version to come out in May/June 2007.

There is a twenty dollar fee to enter the competition and the requirements are pretty simple. Potential models should be at least a dress size 14 and 5′7″ tall with healthy hair, nice teeth, clear skin and a well-proportioned figure. The winner will recieve among other things:

• Cover Model for Bombshell™ Magazine Launch Issue (May/June 2007)
• One Year modeling contract with Brand Model and Talent Management™

I was introduced to Bombshell by a friend of mine who is a plus size model and in the picture at the top of this entry a few weeks ago. Thank you Latisha! Be sure to check out her home page to see some amazing photos of an amazin woman. I had yet to add Bombshell to my daily reading, but it looks like that will change very soon.

Going from online to print is a difficult task especially when dealing with the niche’ of plus sizes, so for that I applaud them and look forward to this competition. Bi-Monthly is a great way to start. Hopefully soon after they get started they will go to monthly.

Magazines targeting plus sizes are hard to keep afloat. Hopefully with Bobmshell adding there prescence to the market that already has Figure magazine we will see more magazines dedicated to plus sizes on the newsstand.

If you feel that you have what it takes to enter this model search then I say go for it and I would love to hear from any ladies that enter and for sure I will be following this and announcing the winner later this year.
