Are you a Career woman or Ms. Online Plus?

“The study which identified five distinct segments of women, confirmed Gigi’s Closet’s hunch that the average sized American woman, referred to as ‘Ms. Online Plus’, feels underserved by current retailers such as Victoria’s Secrets who cater to a younger smaller woman. The study also discovered another very attractive segment of women which Gigi’s Closet’s management had not identified, ‘The Career Woman’.”
The above quote comes from a study that was conducted by Anderson Analyitcs for Gigi’s Closet to better understand how to serve it’s customers that purchase lingerie online. Identifed in the results where the “Career Woman” and the “Ms. Online Plus” and
there shopping habits on the internet. The Career Woman was identified with being less secure about her body image and lingerie while the Ms. Online Plus was secure in her sexuality and used lingerie to show that confidence.
You may be asking what does this have to do with plus size women. Well knowing your mindset when its time to shop for a piece of lingerie beyond a bra and panty can help you to possibly break out of your comfort zone and fully embrace your hips and curves. My wife was gracious enough to fill out the questions and is ready to do some shopping, so I guess you can say she is Ms. Online Plus for sure.
One thing that I can see in doing a study like this is that there could possibly be a backlash from ladies that identify themselves as both types mentioned in the study. Considering that Ms. Online plus is a buzz word connected to the study and Career woman describes millions of plus size women in the workplace worldwide. The only reason that I am not totally dismissing the labels for this study is that results like this can help a merchant understand there plus size clients. For far to long have merchants just made patterns designed for smaller frames bigger and called it plus size.
Considering there is no size regulation in the clothing manufacturing business. A size 6 in one store can be a size 14 in another, which adds to the frustration of many ladies who really don’t know there size. More studies such as this as well as old fashioned measuring plus size women is what is needed to end the confusion in the plus size fashion industry.
Find out which profile best suits you and your online shopping and continue on the path to fully embracing your hips and curves.

Hi, Thanks for posting the little quiz. I own the lingerie boutique, GigisCloset.com, and I commissioned the research regarding attitudes about lingerie and online shopping habits.
Has there been any backlash regarding being put into one group or another?
From a pschographic point of view, the Ms. Online Plus has very positive attitudes about herself, life and her sexuality. I found it to be refreshing.
GigisCloset.com is a women’s lingerie boutique. We celebrate every woman, small busted or large. The best feedback I get is from women who feel underserved (because they are) regarding underwear that is pretty and high-quality while delivering the support that is needed to be comfortable everyday. You can have all that and it comes in turquoise leopard print, or exquisite laces, babes.
What do you think about it?November 1st, 2006 at 5:53 pm -

Also, I would like to mention that although lingerie can be used as a vehicle to express one’s sexuality, when it is regarding a full busted woman, wearing a bra is part of her everyday. From the age of 12 (or 9), we wear bras until we are old enough to not care if we wear one.
I hope that the garments we carry at my store (GigisCloset.com) help make women feel pretty and beautiful and COMFORTABLE each and everyday. Lingerie, specifically bras, are an investment in ourselves and can be an asset to our intimate relationships.
Point is…bras are part of our wardrobe not just for a special occassion.
This has been the hardest message to get through to men, from my personal experience.

Kristina,
Wow thanks for stopping by my blog. I agree with your statements that Ms. Online Plus is positive and agree that a lady can have it all when it comes to both her attitude and her lingerie.
I agree wholeheartedly that a bra is a part of a woman’s wardrobe and not a special occasion item. The main reason for my blogs being in existence is my search for comfortable bra’s for my wife. That’s how I came across Gigi’s Closet. Keep up the great work hope to see you stop by again
