As 2006 comes to an end wedge heels are still popular

Back in the Spring I talked about how wedge and platform heels would continue there popularity through the rest of the year.  Though this time of the year more boots are being seen there are more wedge heeled boots showing up right along side traditional heeled boots.

As the year comes to an in lets revisit the different types of wedge and platform heels as well as some of the stores that carry them.  Most important for plus size ladies is wide widths, because no matter how good the shoe looks if its not comfortable then thats money wasted.  Don’t shoot me i’m just the messanger.

  • Wearable Platforms – Love platforms, but can’t handle the height? These cushioned ankle-strap espadrilles have the all comfort of modest flats with the style of sky-high wedges.
  • Evening Platforms – The dressy sandal is instantly modernized with a platform sole, and a sky-high four-inch heel to boot!
  • Wavy-Soled Espadrille – These espadrilles, with large ribbon ties and a wavy-braided sole, manage to look more city chic rather than beach bum.
  • Luxe Thong Platform – Despite its Birkenstock sandal styling, this thong gets a serious upgrade with luxe embossed leather, pretty metallic color, and tall cork wedge.
  • Studded Platform – An otherwise straightforward pair of leather wedges gets instant bad girl appeal with stud and eyelet hardware.

All the styles listed can be found at these stores.

  • Summer Thong – With a two-inch platform and ankle-buckle, this thong style is perfect for the beach. The height adds length to your legs, while the flat sole is comfortable and sand-friendly.
  • Jeweled Platform – Between the old-school butterscotch color and jeweled wooden sole, this platform sandal screams 70′s queen while still maintaining a thoroughly modern feel.
  • Ballet Wedge – If you have a closet full of ballet flats, but want something hip for spring, these round-toe, ankle-wrap espadrilles are a sassy little option.
  • Grecian Espadrille – Last summer’s flat bohemian gladiator sandal looks fresh with the addition of a tall skinny wedge.
  • Peep-Toe Pump – The scalloped trim, sling back buckle, and classic peep toe come together to form a platform that’s irresistibly retro; toss these on instead of your standard work pumps.
