Being Plus Size and your body image

One of the major concerns when it comes to plus size women is the image of themselves. A quandary comes into play when a woman is disgusted with her look but the man that she is dating absolutely worships the ground that she walks on because of all her hips and curves.

This is something that I personally see each and every day in my marriage. My wife is a size 20 and to me she is the absolute most beautiful woman on the face of the earth. But I also know that deep down she may not be as totally proud of her hips and curves.

In doing my research for today I came across a book by called Hungry for More. Author Robyn McGee, director of women’s services at California State University, tells us the story of her 49-year-old sister, Cathy, who died of heart complications after gastric bypass surgery.

The book is a mix of academic research and fiction telling the story of her sister and addressing the 70% obesity rate among black women in America. Though Full Figure Plus is not a diet and fitness blog it is a blog that is willing to address real issues dealing with real people. I have already ordered my copy of the book and will be reviewing it. I urge you to get your copy and be armed with the information needed to be positive about your body image no matter what size you are.
