Can A Plus Size Mannequin Helps Sales?

Who would have thought that putting a size 16 mannequin outside of a store would help sales? UK merchant Noa Noa did that and to there suprise they have seen an increase in sales.
Not trying to sound like the know it all American, but in the years that Full Figure Plus has been around one of the constant complaints I hear from plus size women is that the models and mannequins do not look like them so they have no clue what the clothes will look like on their hips and curves.
Lane Bryant debuted larger mannequins in their stores about two years ago I am not sure if that helped business or not for them but it was a step in the right direction.
As a man I don’t really pay much attention to mannequins, but I know that ladies do and if that is the case then it only makes sense to have mannequins in larger sizes to reflect the actual size of the customer base.
Even if a merchant carries larger sizes if all the display units are of smaller frames then larger men and women will pass that store by to go to the store that they know that carries extended sizes.
Even the merchants that cater to larger individuals are partially to blame. Putting a size 16 garment on a size 6 mannequin and pinning it to fit the display would not be necessary if the mannequin was larger in the first place.
Will there be a trend in clothing merchandisers creating a display unit system that has a wide range of sizes? Probably not anytime soon but hopefully there will be more attention shined on merchants that use larger mannequins out of respect for their customers.
