2007 Perspective

As I come to the close of three years writing for Full Figure Plus looking at my blog stats revealed some interesting things.  Including this post there were 572 total posts for the year.  There are still not as many comments as I would like, but 2,288,097 visitors viewed content in various categories that I will list in a separate post which means that even without the comments people are reading and taking action from what I write.

Enrolling in college to finish a degree that I started in 1985 has also had a positive impact on my blog activity.  I feel more confident about words that write than ever before.  The break that I was able to take back in the summer thanks to Corrina allowed me to concentrate on classwork and rewire my typing fingers.

Is Full Figure Plus a Fat Positive Blog?

In the almost six years I have been writing for Full Figure Plus no posts get me more attention from the right than when I write “Do’s or Dont’s” posts.  22 plus size fashion dont’s not only kept my streak alive but one comment brought up the statement “Is this site supposed to be fat positive?”  The short answer to this statement is to check this blogs archives under “size acceptance” and “size discrimination” and decide for yourself.

When it comes to writing about fashion for plus sizes it has never been about being the fashion police.  My goal is to help ladies look their best when they leave the house and to show some of the same tips that work for straight sizes work for plus sizes.  Back to the original question of FFP being a fat positive blog.  If  this blog was not why would the Plus Size Beauty of the Week exist?  I mean this segment has been going on for over two years in which dozens of ladies get their moment in the spotlight.  Just last week the young lady who was featured just completed her first professional photo shoot.

10 Questions with Full Figure Plus Blogger – Glen Johnson

I am starting a new series in which I plan to interview many individuals within the plus community to get some general information as well as some things more specific.  The goal of this series is to provide readers across the blogsphere a candid look at those they read about on blogs, in magazines, etc.  To begin with I thought I would focus the light on myself to let you know a few things about me you may already know and some you may not.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks to read about some of the names you know already and a few surprises!  Before I forget don’t forget to sign up for the Full Figured Newsletter for a chance to win a copy of the Curvy Girls Guide to Style!

Why the Plus-Size Community MUST Network

When I think about how much Full Figure Plus has grown since the early days I feel that I wasted a lot of time that could have been spent getting to know not only my fellow bloggers but readers and other business owners in the plus community.  It has only been in the last few weeks that I have come to the realization that networking or talking amongst ourselves is vital for the long term survival of our movement.

With that being said I started to think of some of the reasons we need to network more and I mean beyond the same people we always deal with.  As the thoughts came together it hit me this is something that I have been slacking on even though Full Figure Plus for the most part has been a successful blog.

  1. Networking will introduce us to a side of business we may not have known about
