Katrina Survivor Debuts Special New Orleans Tour
Reprinted from Modern Agent
Inspired by her passion for her city and her long experience in the tourism industry, seventh-generation New Orleanian Pamela Pipes released a self-guided audio tour of post-Katrina New Orleans. “Hurricane Katrina: Devastation & Progress and Her Lessons for Us All” is designed for visitors to New Orleans who want to witness the effects of the nation’s most damaging natural and man-made disaster as well as the rebuilding efforts. Using the two-CD set, drivers can visit all the key sites. Pipes was uprooted by Hurricane Katrina, returning to her beloved home city just weeks after the storm. Her tourism company, New Orleans a la Carde, which stocked New Orleans and surrounding areas with tourist attraction materials, was swamped in the deluge, though she has since revived it. She has since turned Katrina’s devastation into an opportunity to give back to a community that gave her so much.
How to help with back to school for Kartina victims
It’s been a year since the storm. The people of Louisiana are displaced all over the country. Some trying to get back others moving on to make a life for themselves elsewhere. To those that are trying to get back and are dealing with FEMA and the policies of the current administration then they are facing some hard times when it comes to dealing with housing, food, and now when it comes to back to school they will have difficulties buying school clothes and supplies for students returning to school.
Katrina victims still need help
I have written several times about how those affected by the storm are in need of help. Specifically I wrote about how plus size individuals are in need of having clothing donated in larger sizes.
Just like there was a need for clothing to wear when the weather was cold, there is a need for those affected to have warm weather clothing. I realize that for some hear about all the news that there are hundreds of cases that some people that received aid fraudulently may make you pause as far as giving to those in need, but there are those that are still struggling and still need help.
Katrina victims still need your help
I have made several blog entries talking about the needs of plus size victims of Katrina. Though there are people of all sizes that where affected by the hurricanes the people of size where affected the most because of the shortage of clothing and shoes.
Winter is well underway and the victims still need assistance to get through this season but also will be needing help because it looks like in some cases they will have to relocate again.
Helping Plus Size Hurricane Katrina victims this winter
Its getting colder outside and there are still thousands of victims of Hurricane Katrina and Rita scattered across the country. When it comes to the donation of clothing there is a shortage of plus sizes. Take a few extra moments out of your day to contact your local Salvation Army, Goodwill, Red Cross or other civic organization or church to donate warm weather clothing to those in need.
Sizes up to 10X are needed for men, women and children. shoes in wide widths are also needed.
