Norma Kamali Adds to Plus-Size Fashions Available From Wal-Mart

Share

When I read about designer Norma Kamali having clothes for plus-sizes at Wal-Mart I got excited then I paused and remembered the past struggles America’s number one retailer has had over the years when it comes to catering to plus-sizes.  My wife has bought several pieces from the Just My Size collection and a few others only tot be faced with issues including the clothes literally falling apart after only few washes.

The Norma Kamali Summer Collection available at Wal-Mart I must say at first glance fell flat for me.  The black, grey, and khaki colors did nothing for me.  I liked the style diversity in the collection but as you can see from the included photo the models are very tiny which as a consumer gives the wrong message if you are trying to promote your collection to shoppers who are larger.

Plus Size Jewelry

What are your thoughts on Plus Size Jewelry?  This rewrite of a 2004 post comes as a result of seeing the plugin test go south in regards to pulling content from the Full Figure Plus archives.  Back in 2004 things were limited and my writing was not the best but today jewelry has come a long way with sites like Classic Plus size jewelry carrying everything from rings to watches, bracelets and necklaces in sizes up to 17 for some of the rings!

I know when it comes to jewelry it’s mostly for the ladies but I see the pair of Onyx cuff links in my future.  Is anyone going to be nice enough and gift them to me?  If not I will have something different to wear to the Fuller Woman Expo in Detroit next month!

Full Figured Fashion Week™ Los Angeles: A Time For West Coast Plus Fashionistas to Shine

Two years in New York now it is time for Full Figured Fashion Week™ to hit the West Coast.  Just like I was there to witness and be a part of the first event in New York I am going to pack the blog up and head to Los Angeles.  If you missed the NYC activities you have a second chance to see history in the making!

Gwen DeVoe worked for decades to get full-figured fashion, models and designers respect and attention in the fashion industry. This past June she landed major international coverage for the second annual Full Figured Fashion Week™–from a front-page piece in The New York Times to dispatches on dozens of fatshion blogs and magazines that cover fashion trends for women size 14 and up. Today, DeVoe announced the fall launch of Full Figured Fashion Week™ Los Angeles from October 28th-30th, 2010.

Plus-Size Fashion Find: Sonsi Pick of the Week

If you have been paying attention you know that there is another one stop shop for plus-size fashion on the Internet called Sonsi.  I had the pleasure of finding out about this innovative idea before I went to New York earlier this month.  You can read about my initial thoughts in the post Sonsi Combines One Stop Shopping with Social Networking.

Today I am going to concentrate on the “Sonsi Pick of the Week.”  At this point there is not a lot to chose from but the items in the spotlight this week are priced low and come from brands you are already familiar with like Lane Bryant, Kiyonna, Donna Rico, and Fashion Bug.
