Could bamboo be good for plus size fashion

One of the things that I talked about when introducing you to Jahqoi was the fact that there clothing was made from Modal, an alternative fabric. This got me to thinking about when it comes to plus size fashion what if other materials where used?

As a result I came across clothing that was made from bamboo. I am sure your saying how could bamboo clothing help plus size fashion designers put out trendy clothes? Well there are several ways and leveraged correctly could be very beinficial all the way around.

  1. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in nature. Reaching full maturity in just 4 years. It takes a typical tree 25-75 years to get to the same level.
  2. No chemicals are needed in order to make bamboo strong.
  3. Bamboo naturally fertilizes the soil and can be used to repair land that has been damaged from over farming.
  4. Bamboo absorbs water and evaporates it faster keeping the clothing dry longer.
  5. Fabrics made from bamboo will keep you cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
  6. It can be spun with other fabrics such as modal to create different texture clothing.
  7. Bamboo clothing contains no harsh chemicals and is naturally anti-bacterial.

Right now there are no plus size merchants that are using bamboo in there clothing. I see this as an opportunity for manufacturers to use this self replenishing product of nature to produce low cost trendy clothing.

Bamboo fabric would be a perfect match for stores like IGIGI or Monif C. plus sizes. Trendy fashions that are good for the environment. What do you think?
