Do Media Compaines Views Plus Size Bloggers as Important?

There has been a debate going on both online and offline as to the validity of information on blogs. Traditional media companies are full of journalists that are crying foul when a person sitting at home for little or no compensation gets the scoop on big stories before those that get paid to do the same thing can. For most bloggers its difficult enough being called a hack by reporters but what about us plus size bloggers?

Longevity is not something that exists in the plus size blogging community. There are several personal blogs that have been on the scene for a long time like Full Figure Plus and size acceptance champion Big Fat Blog, but it has not been until recent that companies we plus bloggers promote or challenge have started to view us as a serious contributors to the bottom line of their business.

A recent phone conversation that I had with a Krista Paglistotti a media relations specialist for Media Source. revealed quite a bit on traditional media views of bloggers. Thanks Krista for the gift card my wife will be putting it to good use soon. She stated that as a media relations company they would like to reach out to bloggers that promote products and services just like they do when sending press releases out to the major outlets. The problem with most bloggers including plus size bloggers is that little information exists beyond an email address so it is hard to get in contact with the blog owner. Most of our email boxes are filled with opportunities and promises that are not worth the words typed on the page so blind offers even for positive items hit the trash pretty fast.

Since blogging is my business I have taken the step to publish my contact information on this blogs about page for any media company to contact me or readers for that matter. I think that if a media company decides to take the gamble on plus size bloggers such as myself and others to get quality information out to the masses it means that the media and marketing communities are starting to view niche blogs like mine and others as credible sources.

In my opinion credibility is everything to a blogger. No matter how good your intentions are if the word is out that the information is false then nothing else will matter. Full Figure Plus will continue to be a source of positive information for plus size men and women and as always I thank each and every reader and subscriber for making it happen.
