Does Size Determine Beauty?

Based on commentary from myself and a response to my words I now ask the question “Is size a contributing factor to the beauty of an individual?” For those that are new here, Full Figure Plus is a blog dedicated to “plus size fashion” among other things related to the plus size community.  Though I am personally attracted to larger women I do not think that size is a factor in regard to beauty.

The debate has been going on for decades if not longer about individuals who are too big or too skinny being unattractive.  In the confines of being a blogger for plus sizes I think there is beauty to be found in men and women regardless of size but it has more to do with the overall health of the individual than vanity purposes.  In essence by saying a small or large person is more beautiful than the other is not fair on one side and pretty judgmental on the other side.

Above are photos of Eva Longoria and Delta Burke two ladies that have more than their fair share of people that feel they are gorgeous. Is one more attractive than the other based solely on their size? Though there may be individuals out there who would prefer one over the other it does not diminish the beauty of either one and definitely does not detract from their individual beauty based on size.

Even though there are individuals like myself that feel that some meat on a woman’s bones makes her gorgeous it is not my place on any one else for that matter to generalize that a particular size equates to beauty or the lack thereof.  It would be interesting to hear other points of view on this subject I am just one blogger and one voice.

For me size does not determine beauty because beauty is such an individual term based on so many variables.

I look at both Eva and Delta and see beautiful smiles and that’s the first thing that I see and it has nothing to do with if one if larger than the other.

But we all know that for some people being plus size is just an instant turn off and well i guess that’s their prerogative, albeit a very small limited minded one.

  2. Great Question Glen, I think that beauty is a relative thing and the answer to your question lays in the eyes of the beholder.

Great article! I don’t believe that beauty is in the “eye of the beholder”, because the eye can be disceiving! Beauty is projected from the inside out. Outside beauty can be so superfical. I know a whole lot of “ugly outside beautiful people! Lovin FFP!

I honestly feel that beauty is something that cannot be honestly and truly measured just by a look or trend.
I find it unfortunate the measures and weights on beauty imposed my the media’s role in defining beauty…. that is why people like YOU, Glen, are so needed to push out the message about beauty and self image…

    Keep it up!
