How do I look? Does this fit right? Should I wear this? Questions I have been asked by many ladies. With that in mind I was inspired to share some of the tips I have given out over the years as well as add a few new ones. In the end ladies your are already doing most of this so if you have heard these before give yourself a gold star.
Simple is Best
- Use simple shapes when it comes to the cut of your clothes
- Vertical lines are more slimming than horizontal ones. Vertical lines in jackets will elongate your frame
- Wear fitted only clothes. Big voluminous garments will give the illusion you are bigger than you actually are
- Embrace solid colors for your daily wear
Know your body
- Find out what fabrics work best with your figure. Fabrics to chose from include microfibers, polyester/spandex blends, and cottons
- Use one color from head to toe with contrast coming from your accessories
- Use a girdle or shaper to smooth out your clothes not to hide how big you are
- Choose styles that flatter your best features and detract from the areas you don’t want attention drawn to
- Accessories, accessories, accessories. Hats, scarves, earrings, rings the sky is the limit
Bonus Tip: When building your wardrobe think about how many times you can realistically wear a piece. If it is only once or twice then it is not worth the cost. If you cant get at least 3 wears per month or 36 times per year minimum out of an item then you are not getting the best value out of your shopping dollar.
As you can see nothing that I have suggested above are things that are hard to accomplish. It just takes a little common sense and thought to look your best when you are on the go. If you have any suggestions to add to this list feel free to comment.

This is a great tips list – basic but stressing that clothes have to FIT no matter your size!
We always advise our customers to think in terms of building blocks for their wardrobe, whether revamping from scratch or adding pieces for the season.
The foundation includes a pair of well-fitting, well-cut dark trousers; a pair of dark wash jeans with a wider leg; a pencil skirt; a white blouse (a wrap is a great choice); and a day-to-evening black dress.
Basic accessories include a waist-tie or wrap cardigan in either a neutral or your best color; crisp princess seam blouses; well-cut and well-fitting T-shirts in basic colors; a denim jacket; and a long scarf.
With just these basics you can create a varied wardrobe that’s always fashionable and can go from office to evening, from Saturday errands to date night. And every season you can add additional basics (gray trousers, another pair of jeans) and/or trend pieces to round out your look.
