The Erzullie Fierce Plus Size Fashion Resort 2013 collection has finally been released! It was first privately launched during the Erzullie First Look: Resort 2013 event on April 20, 2013, Saturday at Caffeccino, Eastwood City. This event is an exclusive plus size fashion affair that entails luxurious shopping experience, socializing with other plus size fashion aficionados and of course, to get the latest Erzullie collection (Resort 2013) before it was released publicly. It was then made available to the public via online on April 23, 2013, Tuesday.

ERZULLIE FIERCE PLUS SIZE FASHION

This Resort 2013 season, the head designer of the collection, Aries De Guzman, took inspiration from the story of an Erzulliesta’s lavish getaway in a glamorous and opulent Saharan desert. In the story, the ambitious Erzulliesta (hard at work as an Alpha Female of the last collection – Corporate 2013) has saved up enough money and is now deciding on what glamorous location she would like to relax in. She decided to check in a luxurious Saharan hotel and is pampered with the best experience and service. From this, the designer took the elements of flow, color and luxurious lounge wear style and designed dresses, shorts and tops that she knows an Erzulliesta will want to wear during her glamorous Saharan Vacation. Hence, the Resort 2013 collection’s theme was born – SAHARAN GLAMOUR.

It is now available online in Erzullie’s digital flagship as well as selected outlets (please view the online store for more details).

It does not seem like it has been so long since I first attended FFFWeek® back in 2009! The excitement continues in 2013 with a fantastic group of bloggers who are posed to show off the latest and greatest in plus size fashion at the premier fashion event of the year!

When it comes to celebrating National Lingerie Day, before you can get with the festivities you have to be sure to love the person the lingerie is going to go on. For many plus size women taking that plunge into looking for real into the mirror to see the rolls, lumps, and bumps can be scary but the whole point of celebration is to celebrate every roll, lump and bump by declaring absolute sexiness for your body in the form of lingerie.

For my wife I enjoy the times she wears lingerie outside of her comfort zone and the look it puts on her face that says she has a bit a sassiness to go under the outfit she wears to work that day. Normally, no words need be spoken for you to celebrate National Lingerie Day everyday.  As long as stores like Hips and Curves and Big Gals Lingerie exist there will be plenty for you to choose from and there will be plenty opportunities for you to look your lingerie best whether for you or that special someone in your life.

Full Figure Plus - Plus Size Fashion For Today's Active Women

Curvy Career Wear continues the march toward helping you be your curvy best when you show up to the office. Today we will cover tops aka blouses. For those of you who are new to this ongoing series, the point is to dress you for you position in upper management or in an office that causal clothing is not always appropriate.

Tops for the curvy girl can be a headache and in some cases a nightmare. Once again with any piece of clothing you purchase it should be about the fit not about the number on the size tag. For example, my lovely wife is an hour glass silhouette with larger breasts.  In years past the only tops she wore came from Lane Bryant.

Today her closet is filled with tops from dozens of stores ranging is sizes from a 14 to a 28. You may be asking how can one person wear tops from so many different sizes. It has to do with measurements. All of the different tops have different measurements with as much as 4 inches difference for the same size and I speculate that the fit model for each of these companies were pear, inverted triangle, and apple respectively.

When choosing a top to wear there are a few steps to keep in mind:

1. Always shop for your shape
2. You can never go wrong with a white shirt
3. Forget the size number and stick to the measurements on the size chart
4. No plunging necklines
5. Purchase tops that can easily be mixed and matched with other pieces in your closet

With Spring in the air and the temperatures starting to warm up the temptation to show more skin is understandable. The curvy professional should be about showing off her skills in the office not about showing off he ASSets and one of the problem areas is in the area of tops.

Depending on the culture of your office you may be able to blur the line between casual and professional by adding a jacket to your look, but test the waters by asking those who have been around for awhile before making a commitment to buying items that will not work in your office.

Just like any other item in your wardrobe, if you think it may not be appropriate go with your gut. If you find yourself in a position that your wardrobe dominates the conversation instead of your work you may need to think about incorporating a different style of top into your career wear.

Have fun with the tops that you wear. Graphic prints are in this season so play around with prints and color combination until you find the right tops that work for you and your unique style.

Dear Mainstream Fashion,

Last year I wrote you a letter thanking you for your part in taking the plus size fashion community to new heights. Considering our still tension filled relationship I thought I needed to write you again on behalf of the plus size fashion community.

There are literally hundreds of stories daily of how your attempts to steal, kill, and destroy the success of plus size fashion and the components related to it. It is almost as if you are some sort of supernatural demon that has chosen to discriminate against those who do not look or think the way you do. As I stated last year, thank you. Our success came despite your best efforts to destroy all that we have worked hard for and continue to work for..

Thank goodness for the plus size women like Tiffany Jones, editor of POSE Magazine who demanded trendy clothing and modeling. Thank goodness for Plus Model Magazine and Full Figured  Fashion Week™.  Without these niches there would be no stage for Full Figure Plus or the hundreds of plus size blogs and designers who are looking to right the wrong you have placed on the plus size community for decades.

As I already said, without your help dozens of plus size designers would not exist.  Without your interference hundreds of plus friendly websites, modeling agencies, photographers could not exist.  It’s a shame that we had to force our way into a world we should have been included from the very beginning. I guess I should thank you again for reminded me what resolve is in terms of getting what I honestly should not have to fight for.

Thank goodness we are seeing less and less plus size issues of magazines and the plus size clothing section buried so deep within websites they cannot be found. You managed to claim Eloquii, but to be honest it was not much of a lose considering the poor marketing methods that had people wondering who they were in the first place.

There are so many people and businesses that I have met as a result of your actions I should thank you for helping me to create a business that talks about other plus size businesses. I will be celebrating ten years of blogging in 2015 and its all thanks to you.

While there is lots to thank you for in your narrow minded excellence I have to say that I still feel a bit sorry for you. When you did realize the plus size fashion sector was profitable you made an attempt to enter the arena but did so without much thought and without talking to the plus size people that for so long you have ignore. Take my advice, before your next failed attempt to woo the community, why don’t you try talking to members of the community first.

Full Figure Plus - Plus Size Fashion For Today's Active Women

Shoes for plus size women tend to fall into two categories, perfect and cute but absolutely not practical in any setting let alone wearing to the office all day. I know that was a mouth full, but one of my pet peeves is to walk into an office and see ladies who are smartly dressed and the shoes they have on look like they just got off the stripper pole or climbed out of the dumpster behind the building.

Platform stilettos walk a fine line, but in the case of the average plus diva who will be walking around the office all day maybe a 2-3″ heel or wedge would give a more professional look. Ultimately, it depends on the climate of the workplace, but for the sake of this series we will always take the conservative approach but jazz it up a bit.

Curvy Career Wear: Shoes

Your work shoes should fall into different categories based on time of year and type of job you have. If you have a mixture of low to high end shoes you will have a nice rotation and you will always be on point with the right shoe to set off the rest of your wardrobe.

Budget

When I say budget I am talking about the $30-50 price point. Most shoes below this price will not hold up to lots of walking and normal wear and tear. These type shoes need to be comfortable and can be trendy, but are not to be thought of as something that you take to get repaired.

The high end category is for special occasions and treats to your feet. Though there are some who feel that all the shoes in a curvy professionals closet should cost $150 and up for the average professional spending that amount every month is not realistic.

I know a few of you are saying there are far to many black shoes in the examples. My logic behind conservative colors in this post is to target the curvy professional who is new to the world of upper management and is wants to look good even though she does not know the fashion climate of her new job. Conservative shoes tend to also be comfortable which is important and keeps you from wearing a high heeled uncomfortable shoe to the office then switching to flip flops or house shoes and then forget to change back right before the big meeting.

It would also be smart to keep a pair of tennis shoes and rain shoes in your office for the times the weather is bad and you have to walk a block or more in the rain. If you are not a heel person then look more into flats. Just avoid the super casual looking ballerina slippers and you will be fine. With the right shoe not only will you be comfortable, and look good in your best professional outfit, but if you are a savvy shopper you can get several pairs of shoes without going broke.
