Finding odd size bras

A few weeks ago I was out running errands and came across and interesting situation involving an young lady and the difficulties she faces finding a bra. She talked about how difficult it was to shop both online and off to find a size 34EE bra. In addition when she found her size the cost was huge.
At this point I gave her my business card and made a few recommendations to her. This morning I started looking for myself to see if I could have something to suggest to her. My search of the sites that I have listed in the links section as well as doing random searching revealed not many companies carry size 34EE. I saw plenty of 34E bras but none in size EE. I started to wonder if a size 34EE is comparable to a 34F or a 36DD.
Discussing this point with my wife we both agreed that this size is not something that the major bra manufacturers deal with. It’s a size that more than likely came into being as a result of breast enhancement or reduction surgery. In the case of the young lady at the news stand she was all natural, and blessed with a bra size that is not considered popular enough with manufacturers to carry on a regular basis.
She was already dealing with bras that didn’t fit properly and I for sure wasn’t about to suggest anything to her that wouldn’t fit her either. In making suggestions to ladies its not often I come across ladies that have a large cup small band size combination. Not too many plus size or full figure bras come like this. At least not many that I have come across.
I will continue to look to see if I can find something in this odd size for her that is off the shelf but I’m thinking that more than likely her only recourse will be to have a custom bra done. Because of the experience that my wife has dealt with when it come to custom bras I know that to do this she will have to spend quite a lot upfront to get 4-6 bras that fit and that she can rotate in and out for day to day wear. If there is anyone that knows of anyplace that specializes in odd sizes drop me an line courtesy of the Contact page or leave something in the comment section.

Did you know that improperly fitting bras have been linked to breast cancer? It’s not just a style thing for women these days, it’s a health thing. You do good work, sir.

Di,
That is a fact that I didn’t know. I knew about other things like back and shoulder problems but not this cancer. I will have to look more into it and write about it. Thanks for the info.April 9th, 2007 at 10:46 am
