How to Clean Delicates

Web Design Contest Vote

A few days ago I was looking at my Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XL hat and wondering how to clean it without damaging it. Considering that I did not want to throw it away I asked the clerk what the best method would be. Without hesitation he suggested I use Oxy Clean. I have been using it as a laundry booster for years but never considered that it would be something I could use to clean my hat with. I wish that I had taken before and after pictures. After soaking it overnight it came out looking almost as good as it did the day I bought it two years ago.

As an experiment I applied the same principle to a few linen shirts as well as one of my wife’s bras, with her permission of course. The result was the same all of the stains in particular the ones in the armpits of the shirts came clean. The key is to let the item soak for at least 8 hours.

Oxy Clean Recipe:

  • 2-3 gallons of cold water
  • 1-3 scoops of Oxy Clean

Allow items to soak for 6-8 hours. Remove items and rinse with cold water until the surface of the item no longer feels slick from the cleaning solution. Hang to air dry.

This is so handy! My New Year’s resolution is to treat my bras better and soaking them is even easier than tossing them in the washing machine. Yay!
