Is Airbrushing Plus Size Beauties Neccessary?

I am not so naive that I don’t realize that retouching and body doubles are a part of the celebrity world. At least in years past when work had been done to a photo it was subtle and not done is such a way that everyone could tell that the picture had work done to it.

A few weeks ago there where a few blogs that spoke on the look that Jennifer Hudson has on the cover of her upcoming album. I had to agree that it was a bad Photoshop job but I remained quiet about it. What sent me over the edge was seeing the “nude” photos of Jill Scott in this months issue of Allure magazine.

Besides being a bad retouch job her hair looked bad and the use of the soft filter lens made it even worse. Now I know some ladies and even some men would say why fuss about it she did a fantastic job of just having the courage to pose nude for a mainstream magazine. While I agree with that if the final product was going to look like that why didn’t she just come in and let them take bust photos knowing that it would be stitched onto another persons body or retouched till it looked like someone else.

We all saw the Dove commercial of the retouching of the photo to the point that the original person was unrecognizable. I just did not think that I would see it from ladies of the caliber of Jennifer and Jill. I give them both two thumbs up for there talent and everything that they have accomplished but two thumbs down on buying into to the airbrush retouch craze instead of showing their true beauty which includes all the hips and curves that fans have become accustomed to.  In this case as well as other that I am usre that exist my thoughts are that airbrushing plus size beatuies to this extent is not neccessary at all.
