Is America ready for a Plus Size top model

I have been a fan of Tyra Bank’s America’s Next Top Model since I first heard of the concept. In the now 5th season there have been 3 ladies that where considered plus size models. This season there is a young lady by the name of Diane, that even though at a size twelve I wouldn’t consider her plus size but for the world that she is competing in she is very big.

The question was raised during the premiere episode of is the fashion world ready for a plus size top model? I think that it is because America and fashion as a whole is getting bigger so to have someone that is a reflection of what is really out there is a positive thing as far as I am concerned.

I will be pulling for Diane the entire time just like I did for Robin in season 1 and Toccara in season 3, because there really needs to be a good representation of larger size models for regular ladies to look at and get a good idea of what the clothes will look like on them when they get home. Though personally I would like to see models on the runway sizes 16 and up I will take this small step and work with it and just be happy that there has been progress made and more to come in the near future.
