Is Meme Roth out of Control?

In my morning reading I came across the blog of Mia Amber-Davis.  If you have not added her to your news reader I think it would be a great addition.  Anyway on to the question of the day, do you think that Meme Roth and her campaign of sizism is completely out of control?

I ask that question after reading a post on Mia’s blog about how her segment on CNN caught the attention of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.  Normally, there is no way in hell I would ever agree with anything that comes out of Rush’s mouth but with the statement below I think that he summed her up perfectly.

RUSH: Did you catch what this Roth b-i-itch said at the beginning of the bite? You’re supposed to be working out every day? You’re supposed to be working out. You’re supposed to eat fruits and vegetables, you’re supposed to be. And MeMe Roth, who nobody has ever heard of, is now the sole authority on what you ought to be doing. I tried to warn people. This is the SUV all over again. It’s just who these people are.

The point that Rush makes and what we all have been saying from the beginning is who is Meme Roth and who gave her the right to spew such hatred for fat people.  It is like she is laying a path of destruction that started with Joy Nash, continuing on with Jordin Sparks, and going even deeper with Mia Amber.  In my opinion, not only is she out of control, but she is doing it because she knows that the only people out there that could stop her won’t because the silently agree with her.

Sizism in the United States is the same as discrimination against individuals based on skin color, gender, religion, or sexual preference.  As a black man who also happens to be fat her words are like a double slap in the face to me.  If Roth, who states  she comes from an obese family, wants to manage her family and those close to her that is fine but to get on CNN or other talk shows holding up a pair of huge pants and laughing at people of size and say she wants to make a point that has gone to far.

Fat people like me have enough to deal with without food nazi’s like Roth on our backs.  Part of me thinks that she has a deep rooted admiration for people of size and the only way she knows how to deal with it is to bash us.  Guess what miss anti-obesity, no thanks if you want to be a part of the collective just shut your pie hole and let us handle our own devices.

Normally, I don’t get as angry about a topic as I have in this case, but I have to call it like I see it.  What saddens me even more is that as much as I hate what she has to say in this country she has the protected right to say it.  To bad she does not demonstrate the common sense not to open her mouth.  I would love to her your response to Roth and her campaign of hatred.  Do you agree? Do you disagree?

  1. I’m with you Glen! Even if she had some kind of credibility it would not matter a flip to me. No one and I mean NO ONE has the right to mandate what I will eat, or wear or drive etc. I don’t have a problem with a doctor who says I should eat right and exercise but don’t tell me what I have to do with my body.

I know she has a right to free speech and we will just have to tolerate that for the sake of the rights of others but I feel ya man.

Glen do you have any history of her associations like political groups or organizations? I would be curious how deep that well goes.

    • Bobby,

Thanks for stopping by. I have no idea about her political affiliations beyond personal speculations. I am sure if you go to her website you could figure it out, but I will not give that website the traffic by linking to it from my blog.
