I was just doing some looking around to see if I could find some information on jeans for sizes above a sixteen. What I found where several names in the area of couture fashions that sold jeans up to a size 16 with a big price tag on them.
Urban designed Platinum Plush and PZI Jeans jeans start at fifty dollars and go up. Though Platinum Plush has a few styles that go up to a size 24 there are not many.
What happened to a pair of jeans being an item that was affordable to someone no matter what there budget was. I have probably ten pairs of jeans in my closet that I wear often and I didn’t have one problem getting into them. Both fit and price wise there was no issue for me or most men no matter what size we are.
Its unfair on two fronts for ladies when it comes to jeans. No size regulation means that a size 20 jean will be different across 20 brands. Secondly designers trying to appeal to the vanity of women will charge more for a pair of jeans if the perception can be given that its a smaller size. In other words if you know that your a size 2o and pay two hundred dollars for a pair of jeans that says that your a size 14 and that is the only size 14 in your closet then its safe to say that your not a size 14.
BabyPhat and Applebottom jeans have expanded there selection of plus size jeans, but once again ladies are stuck with having to pay a higher price. If I can go out and spend fifty dollars and get, in some cases, two pair of jeans then ladies you should be able to do the same thing.
Maybe the urban designers have a better understanding of larger sizes than the traditional fashion designers. They seem to know that if you make a pair of jeans for a bigger bottom that fits then that translates into sales. To bad that the prices are not lower or they would have a sure hit across the board and not just those people with deep pockets.
Be very careful when you go shopping for jeans. Just because they cost alot doesn’t mean that they are the best or the best for you. Besides if your jeans cost as much as the payment for your car that eventually will add up to problems in your bank account.
