Lack of trendy Plus size jeans
On of the things that happens every so often when trying to blog is finding it a blog topic for the day. While talking to a friend of mine I asked her what I should blog about and she said,
“trendy jeans….there are jeans for the small woman….Baby Phat, applebottoms. But its very hard to find trendy jeans for the plus size woman (besides LB and Ashley Stewart brands)”
I have to agree with this statement. I look around the net for stores that sell quality jeans for plus sizes and the Seven7 jeans from Lane Bryant and a few from Ashley Stewarts are some of the few choices that a woman that is over a size 14 has when it comes to trendy jeans.
There are plenty of just plain jeans out there that a plus size woman can wear but when it comes down to it the sizes vary so much from brand to brand that a size 18 in one brand will be a size 22 in another. There are a few trendy companies that have plus sizes, hopefully more companies will see the need and help fill the void. Applebottom jeans has a limited amount of styles for Plus sizes, with some sizes starting at 14 and going to 22, and some styles only coming in one size. That’s hardly enough of a selection to meet the demand of ladies wanting to wear trendy and stylish jeans. BabyPhat has a little wider selection with sizes going from size 14-24. Once again just a few styles to meet the need of a section of the population that is in need.
The one thing that is common among those that I have mentioned is that there jeans are at a premium price, and depending on the style three pairs of jeans could cost as much as three hundred dollars. For the plus size woman on a budget paying that much for jeans is not something that can be done. Its hard enough to find quality jeans in the first place but when the price is not affordable then that makes the task even more difficult.
DecoDenim.com carries a nice range of denim items for plus sizes but they are limited to the Levis brand. There are at a much more affordable price and they have a broad range of sizes and styles.
Its obvious as you can see that the manufacturing industry needs to address trendy jeans for plus sizes that are comfortable and affordable. As always I will be on the lookout for this and many other things that the fashion industry is falling short on when it comes to plus sizes.

I disagree. I never have a problem finding trendy plus size jeans. I think if you know your jean type its not that difficult. I tend to get most of my jeans at DOTS and I never pay more than $20. They have low rise, ink blue, boot cut, lace cut you name and for great prices.
