Mo’Nique vs. United Airlines

I heard about this yesterday afternoon. When I went to my newsreader I still can’t believe it. In this day and age a person can be thrown off an airplane for disagreeing with a flight attendant. The fact that the person thrown off was Mo’Nique brings a celebrity slant to the story but it makes me think how many times this happens and we don’t hear a word about it.

Today United Airlines has offered an apology to Mo’Nique but she has refused stating that she is treating them the same way they treated her and she will let her lawyers handle things for her. Calling for black passengers to boycott the airline on the Steve Harvey Morning show is something that I think that during this peak of summer travel could be effective considering the type of discrimination that blacks have endured over the history of the United States.

You would think even in the post 9-11 world that we live in today that there would not be so much fuss over a ticket holding passenger having a hair dryer added to there luggage. If it got past the luggage check then its pretty safe to say that there was nothing wrong with it. Even if the dryer didn’t belong to Mo’Nique if she decided to allow it in with her things then how was that going to interfere with the operation of the plane?

I hope that this situation is resolved quickly if not its going to be a very long one for United Airlines.
