New York and Full Figured Fashion Week: My First Thoughts
Posted on June 26, 2009 by Glen Johnson
So far it has been great, hectic, and cool being in New York as a participant in Full Figured Fashion Week. Meeting Curvy Collective members Johara and Marie was great during the kickoff at Re/Dress New York. What was even better than meeting the two ladies that are the brains behind the Collective was to meet modeling icon and runway diva Sharon Quinn.
Unfortunate for me I arrived late but the fact that I was able to meet Sharon made up for my being fashionably late. The smile on my face shows how glad I was to be there.
Besides the hiccup that I encountered last night missing the new designer showcase I am a few hours away from what I think will be the most important part of the weekends events, the State of the Curvy Community Panel Discussion. The latest reports show that this will be a standing room only event and sure to be an eye opener to everyone.
If you were one of the lucky ones to RSVP this event you are in for a treat. I am honored to be a part of the panel that will be discussing both the positive and negative aspects of the different parts of the curvy community.
As for New York, being from Arkansas all I can say is that this place is huge! I am glad my hotel is in Times Square. It has allowed me to be a tourist as well as getting some work done at the same time. I have taken a few hundred photos and have more to take. Once the crowds die down I am going back to the Ripley’s museum to get some shots of the Micheal Jackson life like wax figure. RIP Micheal Jackson.
If anyone is in the area stop by the Hilton Times Square and ask for Glen Johnson. I would love to meet others that are involved in this historic week of events!
