When I read about designer Norma Kamali having clothes for plus-sizes at Wal-Mart I got excited then I paused and remembered the past struggles America’s number one retailer has had over the years when it comes to catering to plus-sizes. My wife has bought several pieces from the Just My Size collection and a few others only tot be faced with issues including the clothes literally falling apart after only few washes.
The Norma Kamali Summer Collection available at Wal-Mart I must say at first glance fell flat for me. The black, grey, and khaki colors did nothing for me. I liked the style diversity in the collection but as you can see from the included photo the models are very tiny which as a consumer gives the wrong message if you are trying to promote your collection to shoppers who are larger.
The one good thing about this collection is no item costs over $20 with several items costing less that $10. The problem comes from many items only being available online. This is becoming a recurring problem in regards to plus-size fashion. Retailers want the plus-size dollar but are not willing to add clothes for larger consumers to there stores. For Wal-Mart this is a huge mistake considering no matter where you go in the country everyday plus-size and big and tall individuals shop in the store.
I realize I should be talking more about the collection but, for the most part there really is not a lot to talk about beyond additional options available to ladies, but only to those willing to shop online.
At this time the link to the 2010 Fall Collection for Wal-Mart is down. I hope the pieces for Fall are better than the Summer collection. If you want to try out these items now is the best time to buy before they are replaced with clothes for Fall. What do you think about the Norma Kamali collection and what do you think about it only being available at Wal-mart.com?

The clothing in those pictures look really nice, on those thin models, but I’m sure there will be some nice things for plus size women to choose. The colors don’t bother me, those are the kind of colors I wear in the fall in winter anyway, and so do many other women. What I’m worried about is the quality. With nothing costing more that $20 they have to sacrifice somewhere. I just hope that it’s not in the stitching, that’s where my cheap clothing comes apart first.
