Did you know that Kamart recently rolled out a plus size clothing collection? If not let me introduce you to the LYS aka Love your style, love your size. Before we get into the actual review lets get the boring FTC rules out of the way. Blah blah blah Kmart sent me the clothes free of charge but that does not mean I will immediately give a positive review so forth and so on.
I was sent the three items that you see below the animal print halter blouse, the plus skirt, and the cropped cardigan all in a size 2X. Most of you know that Kmart is known as a budget shopping center and that philosphy was carried on with the LYS collection. The three pieces combined would have a regular cost of $61.97 not bad for separate pieces that can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe to lower your cost per wear.
The Good:
Beyond the price of the items the animal prints are right with the season the skirt has great detail and is lined for an extra level of protection, the sweater made from a light breathable material means that you can wear it this time of year to keep the chill of the early spring air at bay. Other good things are the colors. When it comes to Spring most of the dark depressing colors give way to lighter more happy colors. Another good part about the collection is depending on your area you can go into the store and get your items. Unfortunate, for ladies in Arkansas the LYS collection is not available hopefully this will change soon.
The Not So Good:
My normal fit model, my wife, did not care for the fit of the pieces in particular the length of the skirt. The main reason for this is that she does not wear skirts that come above the knee. Though the construction is good for such a low price point it makes me wonder how the items will hold up in the wash. Specifically the sweater is very light in weight meaning I am not sure how it will hold up with normal wear and tear. The flip side of the pieces of the collection being available in your local store is the items not being available in all areas. Unfortunate, for ladies in Arkansas the LYS collection is not available hopefully this will change soon.
Overall Score:
Overall I think the LYS collection by Kmart is heading in the right direction. This goes along with the trend of plus size clothing growing in popularity. The issues that my wife had with the collection may be non issues for someone else so I suggest as with anything to try the items out for yourself and decide based on your individual tastes. One suggestion is to include more color. I know that some of the colors of the season ate blacks, greys, animal prints but Honeysuckle aka shades of pink are also in.
