I guess it has to be a mix of both. A swimsuit is a garment which need to function very well! As in it need to give you the right support in the right places, it needs to be durable, resistant to chlorine, sun exposure etc. But it should also be stylish and flattering to your figure. So I definitely think as mix of both is the best.
