Spain is starting to side with plus size fashion

“According to BBC News ‘Spain is to standardise its clothing sizes for women as part of a government drive to ease pressure on young girls over their body size.”
Following there ban on ultra-thin runway models Spain is at it again and this time its a good thing for plus size fashion.
The new practice set to go into place by 2008 would require all shops to carry comparable sizes. If one store has a EU40 (size 14-16 US) then all shops would have to carry the same sizes.
Spain’s National Consumer Institute will oversee the changes. More than 8,000 Spanish females between the ages of 12 and 70
The Spanish government wants to ensure that beauty is linked to health not size. We can only hope that this has a positive ripple in the clothing industry particularly for plus sizes.
This would eliminate the need for specialty shops for plus sizes and send a message to the “size zero” crowd that real size women want to be able to shop anywhere without it being a nightmarish experience.
I can only wish that thinking like this will come across to the United States where sizes are all over the charts. No two designers clothes are alike and size discrimination is at an all time high.
