Last weeks opinion poll regarding the views on the plus size beauty of the week were quite interesting.  There where a total of 131 votes. The fact that the majority of the responses 83% said yes was not the interesting part in my opinion.  The 9% that answered maybe peeked my curiosity.

There was a comment when the poll first came out last week that stated being unsure about “beauty.”  Though I can not speak for the commenter my best guess is that the term “beauty” in relation to this particular segment is possibly slight exploitative in how it defines plus sizes and women.  I may be totally off the mark in my viewpoint which is where you guys and your thoughts are important and why the poll question was presented in the first place.

We continue this week plus size beauty with a swimsuit submission.  Congratulations to Shay Green on being chosen as this week beauty.  You can learn more about Shay at her website.  Remember ladies when it comes to your submissions the new size ranges start at a size 12 and go up from there.  The reason for the drop is to stay in line with mainstream plus size modeling which begins at a smaller size.

There are a few new twists to the beauty of the week post that I need to update you on. There have been a few questions that have been asked of me regarding the Plus Size Beauty of the Week.  Instead of sharing my views with just a few readers I decided to ask you guys.   In the right column just under the photo of the beauty of the week comes this weeks question, “Is the Plus Size Beauty of the Week Segment Something positive?”

The poll is pretty simple and a way for me to know if the content that I provide on Full Figure Plus is what you guys want.  To make this new feature successful it would be great if more questions could be sent in to get the opinion of the full readership on a given topic.

The PSBOTW segment rolls on. This weeks beauty is none other than Donna Rogers. All of the attention that has been paid to plus modeling over the past few weeks with the Glamour magazine shoot and the buzz around Crystal Renn’s book has had me talking more about the size of models.

Recently it was brought to my attention that there are ladies that would submit their photos but they do not meet the size requirements that I set forth. Disclaimer: Though I personally feel that plus size starts at a size 16 in being more in line with current industry standards I am lowering that number. The beauty of the week segment continues.  This weeks plus beauty is Joy Coleman.  As most of you already know this spot started over a year ago and will continue as long as photos are submitted.  Even though a lot of professional models have submitted pictures I encourage everyday shots as well.  If you are new and have never heard of the beauty of the week on Full Figure Plus it is a way for me to show my support to the many plus size ladies some of which want to be in modeling while other just want to show off their beauty.
