Over the weekend I had the pleasure of reading The Curvy Girl’s Guide to Style (Volume 1)written by Chastity Garner author of the blog by the same name. Before I get into the review let me say of the top I highly recommend this book and enjoyed it so much I have for two autographed copies to be given to two Full Figure Plus readers that give their best curvy girl style tip.

Now don’t think that I will give the book away in this short review but what I will say is that the book is filled with common sense tips that would apply to ladies regardless of size.  The conversational tone of the book made for fast reading for even a notoriously slow reader like myself.  Tips like keeping a pair of ballet slippers in your purse or finally admitting that the more cute the shoe the more pain it will inflict on your foot were priceless!

Absent from the guide was the “I am a pissed off fat girl and you better do what I say or else I am going to be pissed off at you for not doing what I say because I opened my mouth” attitude I have read in too many books and blogs over the years, for which I was eternally grateful.  Chastity paced the book as if she was sitting down with me enjoying a cup of coffee and educating me on what it takes to look fabulous.  As a man who until a month ago had never worn shapewear even I found a few tips I could use.  Side Note:  Men I would suggest you read a book like this to understand what your curvy goddess goes through to look her best for you and the world.

Another point The Curvy Girl’s Guide to Style (Volume 1) mentioned was having a seamtress on speed dial.  I have been talking about this almost since day one and wonder why it hasn’t become more common.  To sum things up the guide concentrates on helping you to look your best by giving common sense advice that has more to do with always looking good, than trying to be a good looking big girl.

The guide could easily become your little black style book to keep with you at all times.  At the end of the book are many of the websites that she frequents as well as blogs she reads.  As I said before the guide is a wealth of common sense info for all plus size ladies and a few of us big and tall men.
