A little over a year ago I wrote about the Mexican dress. The author behind this particular dress pattern was kind enough to give me a little background on how anyone could purchase and download the pattern and make a Peubla dress for themselves.
Before the fashion police come in and arrest me for trying to put a tent dress on big girls I must say I was drawn to this dress because of the tradition that goes with it more than pleasing the fashion nazi’s.
The folk costume that is the origin of today’s Mexican peasant dress has been around since at least the 1600′s, and may well be older than this. New to the site as you can see in the photo is the Mexican Paper Flower Shawl. The rebozo garment follows the same style as the Peubla dress except that it requires a bit of embroidery that according to the site a beginner should be able to accomplish without much problem.
