Torrid And The Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption Team Up
Posted on December 08, 2009 by Glen Johnson
It was stated a few weeks ago that we are in a season of service. To me this means helping someone else out without expectation of reciprocation. With that in mind it is my pleasure to share with the readers of Full Figure Plus a partnership between plus-size fashion leader Torrid and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
Through December 24, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption joins forces with Torrid, the fashion retailer for the curvy girl, to find families for children waiting in foster care.
Torrid, the shopping destination for trendy fashion and denim, is offering its customers 10% off any holiday purchase of $50.00 or more at locations nationwide and online at Torrid.com when they make a donation of any amount to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Torrid is also providing information to thousands of their customers, encouraging them to make a difference in the life of a child through foster care adoption.
“We are so pleased to work with Torrid and their customers,” said Rita Soronen, executive director of the Foundation. “Together, we can find homes for the 129,000 children who linger in the United States foster care system waiting for an adoptive family of their own.”
“Torrid is thrilled to work with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption this holiday season. We can’t think of anything more important than finding forever families for the thousands of children in the US who are waiting for a permanent, loving family,” said Chris Daniel, Torrid President. “Torrid customers have demonstrated their incredible generosity many times in the past and we know that they will be excited to take up this important cause. We hope that by combining our customer’s love of fashion with her love of giving we can truly make a positive difference in the lives of many families this year.”

I can relate to the struggle of adoption. Though I was never in a foster home I was adopted by my biological grandparents. It was different in the sixties as far as what people thought about children not born into a traditional relationship. I am thankful to my entire family for their support and applaud Torrid and the Dave Thomas foundation for addressing an issue not many people are willing to talk about.
About the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national nonprofit 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to dramatically increasing the adoptions of the more than 150,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems. Created by Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, who was himself adopted, the Foundation implements results-driven national signature programs, foster care adoption awareness initiatives and research-based advocacy efforts. Their work aggressively moves children into adoptive homes, increases consideration of foster care adoption, and strengthens the families formed. As the only foundation dedicated exclusively to foster care adoption, they are driven by Dave’s simple value: Do what’s best for the child.
