Using MySpace to promote plus size business activities

Unless you are brand new to the internet you probably have heard about MySpace.com. I figured out months ago that it is not a place for veteran bloggers to do anything but promote there Wordpress or other platform blogs. With this in mind I thought about the amount of plus size business owners that are promoting there products on MySpace and how they are doing it.
Some I think will be very successful at it while others will get caught up in the social aspects of the community and end up hurting there business.
When I think about MySpace and other social networking communities I don’t think about business so in my opinion they shouldn’t be mixed but if you are going to use a place like this as a companion to your business there are a few things that need to be considered.
- MySpace is a blogging community. If blogging is not something that you are familiar with then the basic blog platform that they use is perfect to learn on.
- Overuse of the bulletin board feature can hurt you in the long run. Daily posting is fine. Posting the same thing ever two hours is not.
- If your there for business the size of your friends list should not be an issue. Having thousands of people connected to you that are not leaving MySpace to come to your other website defeats the purpose of building a page for business purposes.
- Stick to graphics and fonts that are inviting. Over use of pictures, music, and other things are only distracting and will drive more people away from the page than it attracts.
- Include maintaining your MySpace page in with your other daily business activities. Deciding on using it a promotional tool is great but if you only update it once a month it will do you no good.
- If MySpace is the only presence your business has on the web, put your best foot forward until you can afford a regular hosted website or blog.
There are a lot of plus size merchants that are taking full advantage of everything that MySpace has to offer and that is the best part. There are lots of business ideas that I have come across that I don’t think I would have ever heard about if it wasn’t for MySpace. Social networking communities are a great place to make new friends that can turn into business associates and in some cases customers.
