Every so often I like to write about actual questions that bring people to Full Figure Plus from the different search engines. The title is the actual question that brought someone to this blog.
Now to some people the quick response would be that a plus size woman should wear anything she wants to. A more practical approach to the same question would give an answer of: “She should wear clothing that is the most flattering to her body shape”
Of course this doesn’t mean that I or anyone else can tell someone what they should or shouldn’t wear. If the goal is to look good no matter what then being open to suggestions is the key to long term fashion happiness.
Highlight good areas
Whatever area of your body that you think is the best of the best then wear colors and styles that show it off. If its your legs then skirts and dresses. If your proud of your breasts then nice fitting tops and blouses are a must. Lots of shoes for the woman that loves to show of her feet.
Distract from bad areas
I really don’t like to think that any area of the body is a bad area. But once I get back to reality I realize that every woman on the face of the earth has one or two areas that they don’t like. Whatever that area is use different colors, cuts and accessories added to your look to take away from any area you don’t want featured.
SIDENOTE: Though the goal is to take away from a problem area, wearing a mumu that swallows you and makes you look bigger is not an option.
Experimentation
It’s very easy to buy the same types of clothing season in and season out. Trying new styles and colors can put that zing into any wardrobe. Shop with a friend or partner and allow them to chose a few items for you. Since they see you differently than you see yourself they will chose things that look good on you through there eyes. This is something I do with my wife alot. The things that I chose for her end up being some of her favorite items.
At the end of the day a plus size woman should wear what she likes and what is most comfortable. Dressing as if someone is watching you all the time will put you in the mindset that looking good is business as usual so no matter what everytime you step out the house you look like a million bucks.
