I didn’t watch the show and I just learned about her being booted off the show when I was watching the news. When I did watch American Idol a few times this season I was really impressed with Lakisha and even more impressed with how Simon seemed to really like what she was about. So why is it that she was the front runner for so long but got booted off before they got to the final two?
Its pretty simple they have already had one fat person win when Rueben won a few years ago. Jennifer Hudson doesn’t count because she became fat for a role in a movie but has since lost the weight. Lakisha was voted off because in the big circle of the American Idol universe they cant have to many fat folks representing the “idol” part of America.
Maybe it was all the buzz that came from us fat folks when she wore the dress from IGIGI. I doubt it though. We all know that American Idol is less about talent and more about image and the fat girl with the mega talent just doesn’t sell to the marketing machine like smaller folks do.
The one bright spot about Lakisha being booted from the show is that AI rejects seem to do better than the winners so I expect good things from her in the future. Maybe there can be a fat girl diva tour with Lakisha, Mandisa and Frenchy, now that would be a hell of a show. Not to mention there would be a ton of fashionable ladies in attendance with men like myself at there sides smiling big time while enjoying the show.
