World saving light bulbs illuminate plus size fashion

I was just reading on Seth Godin’s blog about energy efficient light bulbs. Now you may be thinking what in the world does a light bulb have to do with plus size fashion. But when you think about it if you don’t have proper light then how can you see how your clothes grab your hips and curves, apply your make up, or design those clothes.
When I remodeled my bathroom last February one of the things that was bugging me was how fast I was going through lightbulbs. I had heard about these “twisty” light bulbs as I called them but when I looked into them I wasn’t willing to pay the big price of $2-3 dollars per bulb for them.
Before we started using CF bulbs we where replacing at least 4 bulbs a month. It was getting annoying buying bulbs all the time. So for that alone the higher upfront cost makes these bulbs more than worth it over time.
Needless to say my wife didn’t agree with me and we ended up in February of 2006 changing every bulb in the house to compact fluorescent light bulbs. I still call them “twisty” though. Fast forward to today and I still have the same bulbs that I installed a year ago and not one of 17 bulbs has gone out.
The only drawback is though CF bulbs us 1/4 of the energy of incandescent bulbs they contain a trace amount of mercury. Though not harmful it means that to dispose of a blown bulb you would need to take it to your local recycling center. For me this is not a problem at all since I make several trips there anyway. For those concerned about the mercury content there are mercury-free bulbs available
I highly recommend CF bulbs. The ones that I bought I got from The Home Depot, but others stores like Wal-Mart will also carry them. The next time you are trying on your favorite clothes you can look at your light bulbs and say not only do I look good but I am doing my part to save the world.
